A creative, supportive workshop that provides teen writers with an active, literary community. Open to all teen writers, including short-story writers, novelists, essayists, graphic novelists, journalists, playwrights, and poets.
Each week we’ll generate new writing through in-class writing exercises focused on voice, language, character and story, and provide productive, peer critique. The Workshop will also host readings, bring in professional writers from the community, and publish chapbooks.
Led by Erica Lorraine Scheidt, Teen Center Visiting Artist. Young adult novelist and longtime volunteer at 826 Valencia, Erica is a Berkeley resident and outspoken advocate for teen writers. She received her MA in creative writing from University of California, Davis and her undergraduate degree in writing and poetics from Naropa University. She is currently at work on her second novel from her studio at Headlands Center for the Arts.
